The Alumnae Seminar

The Alumnae Seminar began as a joint venture of alumnae from the Seven Sister Colleges (Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, Radcliffe, Smith, Vassar and Wellesley) who reside in Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY. Today alumnae of many colleges and universities are active in planning the programs.

From the beginning, the goal of the seminar has been to present outstanding programs on world, national and local issues which attract a wide audience. The seminar is open to the public, and is a means of serving our communities.

The format of the seminar is an extended presentation by several speakers, followed by a question-and-answer period during which audience members address their questions to the panelists. Each program is centered on a topic of current interest and features speakers who can address different aspects of the topic. Panelists are known experts in the field under discussion, and many are college or university professors. After the program, attendees enjoy an opportunity to visit with each other over lunch.

The seminar planning committee comprises volunteers who manage all aspects of each seminar – choosing the program topic, selecting and engaging speakers, publicizing the program, registering attendees and making all arrangements for the event. The committee always welcomes new members. To find out more about the committee and the seminar, please let us know by using the Contact Us page on this website.
